| Anyone who thinks prairie scenery is dull has
obviously never been to Alberta. As one travels west from the
table-flat prairies of Manitoba and eastern Saskatchewan, the
landscape becomes more rolling. Alberta is dotted with tiny lakes in
fields called sloughs (pronounced "sloo"). Rivers and
streams carve interesting land formations into the soft soils. Perhaps
most striking about the Alberta prairies is the spectacular skyscapes.
Neighbouring Montana calls itself "Big Sky Country," but the
