Elk Island National Park

Alberta has the most spectacular National Parks in Canada in its Rocky Mountains. Less well known is Elk Island National Park, a much smaller park to the east of Edmonton. Here visitors can camp, canoe or engage in other recreational activities, though a snail-borne parasite makes swimming an iffy activity. Most impressive is some of the wildlife, especially herds of bison.
