Alberta is a vast province. You get an idea of
its size driving many hours to some of the northern communities --
High Level, Fort McMurray, Grande Prairie, or Peace River (pictured
here). Despite its northern location, the Peace River country is
reputed for its farmland. The majestic Peace River originates in the
mountains of British Columbia and flows northeastward, joining the
Athabasca, and eventually ending up in the Mackenzie River system and
Beaufort Sea.
