Garden of fruit and flowers

On the edge of the small town of Viñales in western Cuba, and through a strange gate covered in real sliced fruit, is a sprawling garden run by two old women. It’s an unusual garden with tall flowering trees, many bearing fruit, and with birds both wild and domestic running around. The ladies invite you in to stroll around on its peaceful paths, saying only that a small donation would be appreciated. When I returned from my walk, one of the women shown here, offered me the juiciest grapefruit I’ve ever tasted along with a few little bananas. The garden is the product of many years of care.
