Tobacco picker, Viñales, Pinar del Rio, Cuba

Pinar del Rio in western Cuba is the country’s major tobacco producing area. The climate and soil produce a tobacco used in cigars considered the best in the world. But picking tobacco by hand is hot, hard work. Depending on how many rows they pick, a picker may make about $2 a day.
