Algonquin Park is best explored by canoe. This large provincial park consists of hundreds and hundreds of lakes and rivers, all either interconnected or a short portage away. This is a fine example of the landscape of the Canadian Shield, a vast area of pre-Cambrian rock that covers much of Canada. Park your canoe on a lonely lake and listen to the loons calling and wolves howling.
