Skyline at Sunset, Toronto, Ontario

Digital Photo by Richard McGuire

The Toronto skyline has grown much taller in recent decades. Dominating the skyline is the CN Tower, built in the 1970s as a communications tower, and now a tourist attraction. At 553 meters (1,815 feet), it's the world's tallest freestanding structure, though it is debated whether it can properly be classed as the world's tallest building.

This photo was taken from the ferry boat to the Toronto Islands, an expansive park just a 15-minute boat ride from the downtown.
