Rower, Madawaska River, near Springtown, Ontario
Digital Photo by Richard McGuire
A rower cuts through the early morning mist on the Madawaska River near Springtown, Ontario. Rivers like the Madawaska pass through a series of dams that power small and medium-scale hydroelectric generating plants. Above these dams, the water is smooth and deep enough for sports such as canoeing or rowing. The Madawaska flows from Algonquin Park to the Ottawa River at Arnprior.
